December 2
Officers responded to the 100 block of East Jefferson Street for a civil issue.
Officers responded to a residence in the 100 block of Garmatter Street in regards to an underage consumption by a juvenile complaint.
December 4
Officers responded to an apartment complex on County Line Road in reference to a mentally ill individual. The individual was taken to St. Rita’s Medical Center to be evaluated.
Officers responded to the university in response to a tree that had fallen on a student’s parked vehicle.
December 6
Officers responded to the hospital ER in reference to an individual who was injured by a dog that was running at large. Contact was made with the Allen County Dog Warden’s office to investigate the incident further.
December 11
Officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Grove Street near Bentley Road for a registration violation. During the traffic stop, officers identified the driver and found him to be driving under suspension. The Columbus Grove resident was issued a citation for driving under suspension and expired registration. The case is pending in Lima Municipal Court.
December 12
Officers arrested a Bluffton resident on an outstanding warrant issued by the Findlay Police Department. The individual was transferred to the Findlay Police Department to be booked into the Hancock County Justice Center.
December 13
Officers took a theft complaint from a university student who had his vehicle broken into while on campus.
December 17
Officers responded to a residence on West Riley Street for a miscellaneous complaint.
December 21
Officers arrested a Bluffton resident for Persistent Disorderly Conduct after he continued attempts to gain entry into vehicles that did not belong to them while the vehicle occupants were inside. The case is pending in Lima Municipal Court.
December 23
Bluffton Police officers assisted an Alabama motorist who was in need of assistance after experiencing vehicle issues while traveling through the area.
December 25
Officers received reports of an unidentified flying object flying over the area in the early morning hours. The unidentified object only appeared to have a steady red light coming from the front. Initially, officers were only able to detect the faint sound of bells while the object was flying overhead. Once backlit by the moon, officers were able to visually see the flying object. The object appeared to be a red, convertible sleigh occupied by one jolly, white-bearded male being pulled by four rows of two reindeer and one leading the way with its bright, red nose. Officers stated as the object flew out of sight the jolly, white-bearded male exclaimed, “Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!”
