Pirate girls, boys 2nd at Minster track quad

MINSTER – The Bluffton girls and boys track and field teams each finished second at a tough quadrangular meet in Minster on Tuesday, April 29.
The Pirate girls were edged by 2.5 points by St. Henry, 78.5-76. Bath finished third with 51 points, followed by host Minster (43.5).
The Pirate boys finished a close second at the meet to Minster, 82-76. The Bath boys tallied 66 points, while the SH boys were last (32).
Pirate speedster Maelee Miller won four individual girls events. The athletic freshman swept to first in the 100-meter dash, the 800-meter run and the 100 hurdles. The versatile standout also took first in the high jump.
Pirate senior Griffin Stackhouse sprinted to two wins once more. He crossed the finish line first in the 100 and 200-meter races to pace the Pirate boys.
Stackhouse also finished second to junior teammate Kain Wright in the 400- meter run. Senior Carson Kruse captured first in the 110-meter high hurdles.
Senior Noah Bricker took first in the high jump to claim first. Sophomore Tayte Giesige topped the field in the long jump.
