Bluffton softball loss to Polar Bears

DOLA – The visiting Bluffton High School girls softball team lost 6-2 to Hardin Northern Wednesday evening, May 7.
The Polar Bear girls scored five big runs in the third inning to overcome a 1-0 deficit and win.
Bluffton tallied a run in the top of the first and another in the fifth.
The Pirate girls dropped to 2-11 overall with the loss. HN improved to 14-4 after the win.
Bluffton was out-hit by the Polar Bears, 8-3. The Pirates drew four walks and made one error compared to miscues by HN. The Bears coaxed two walks.
Karleigh Davis singled and scored both Pirate runs. Emma Green and Camryn Fruchey each drove in one run. Fruchey drew a pair of walks.
Brooklyn Moser and Adelyn Althaus each singled for the other Pirate hits.
Mile Seabrook singled twice and knocked in a run for HN. Addy Bacon compiled three RBI, one hit and one run. Twin sister Baylie Bacon singled home a run and scored a run.
Northern’s Karli Faith singled and scored twice. Kaitlyn Whitaker added a hit and run. Lisha Schweizer tallied a run.
Pirate starting pitcher Haelee Rayle gave up four earned runs and five hits in 2.3 innings to get the loss. She struck out one.
Peyton Worcester hurled 3.7 innings of relief and gave up two earned runs on three hits and a pair of walks. She struck out two.
The hosts stranded three runners, while the Pirates left six on base.
HN reliever Lyla Holtzberger earned the win with 4.7 innings of solid hurling. She allowed two hits and no earned runs with one walk and four strikeouts.
Seabrook started and allowed one run in 2.3 innings. She walked three and whiffed one.
