Pirate boys 2nd, girls 3rd at district track

DEFIANCE – The Bluffton High School track and field teams competed well at the Div. II northwest district meet May 21 and 23 in Defiance.
The Pirate boys took second, while the Bluffton girls came in third at the 16-team meet.
Ottawa-Glandorf edged the Bluffton males 98 points to 92 to claim the district crown. Liberty-Benton came in a close third with 89 points.
The versatile Pirates had five different boys win individual events, and they took first in one relay.
Senior sprinter Griffin Stackhouse won the 100-meter dash and crossed the finish line second in the 200-meter dash.
Powerhouse O-G also won the girls team title with 99.75 points, followed by Napoleon (83) and Bluffton (77).
The Pirate girls posted four second-place finishes. Freshman Maelee Miller captured second in the 100-meter hurdles and in the 400 meters.
