Events and Programs
Continue to unlock a world of adventure with the Bluffton Public Library’s 2025 Summer Reading Program, “Color Our World” this July! Summer Read is open to all ages. By joining in on the summer fun, you’ll earn tickets for prize drawings and have opportunities to connect with others in the community! Reading logs will be available for children and teens when they register, and adults can enter to win prizes with every 3 books read. So come on in and get the whole family registered and involved!
LEGO Library Showcase: The library is always excited to be showing local residents’ LEGO builds. The LEGO builds can be sets or your own creations. Register at the Main Desk and this event is open to ALL ages. Bring in your builds now and the library will display the builds through July in conjunction with our 2025 Summer Read program “Color Our World”. Pick up will be August 4-9.
Verne’s Paint Palette Scavenger Hunt: Every week during Summer Read Verne will be adding a new color to his palette. Can you find him in the library? When you find him, color in your bookmark and pick out a little prize!
Duckie Cosplay Contest: The Duckies are on display in the Youth Services Display Case. Vote for your favorite Duckie during July. The winner(s) will be revealed Thu., July 31st at 4:30 p.m. during the Summer Read finale!
Noon Book Group (R) meets Wed., July 2. The group will discuss The Rosie Project by Graeme Simsion. The book that will be discussed Aug. 6 is Girl in Disguise by Greer Macallister. Register in person and pick up the book or online and read it digitally on your own.
Not@Noon Book Group (R) is scheduled to meet on Thu., Aug. 7 at 6:00 p.m. at the library with the same August title as Noon Book Group (Girl in Disguise by Greer Macallister). Register starting July 2 and pick up the book/book on CD or read it digitally on your own.
Family Storytime (Birth-Pre-K): will be held Wednesdays, July 9-July 30 at 10:00 a.m. No registration necessary this summer! All Storytimes will be about reading, singing, playing, and socializing with peers. Themes this July include: Emotions, Dinosaurs, Water… and so many more!
StART @ the Library (R): Activities geared for Grades K-2, and for Grades 3-5. This series will run through the summer. Check the calendar for dates and themes and register your child for each session separately, in person or online.
“Freedom & Fireworks” Acrylic Paint Class with Bluffton Art Company (R)($) will be held Tue., July 8 at 6:00 p.m. with Hannah Warwick of Bluffton Art Co. Come to the program prepared to create your own acrylic painting. Cost is $15 per person and will be taken at the door (cash only, please). Register in person or online. Open to adults, and teens and children with an accompanying adult.
Mobile Health Clinic: The next Mobile Health Clinic will be held on Thu., July 10 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. All services are provided by individuals with the Ohio Northern University Healthwise program. This clinic includes free screenings for blood pressure, blood sugar, and cholesterol (please fast for 12 hours to participate in cholesterol or blood sugar screening.) Participants may speak with ONU Healthwise students and staff about their results or concerns, and even receive referrals to area doctors.
Watercolor Workshop: Hen and Chicks (R)($) will be held Thu., July 10 from 2:00 p.m. - 3:45 p.m. Local artist Jeanne Crumrine will teach on the lower level of the library. Walk away with your own watercolor piece of art, complete with mat! There is a $10 supply fee at the door (cash only please). Register in person or online. Open to adults, and teens and children with an accompanying adult.
Read with a Dog (Pet Partners) (R): Our furry friends are back! This is a great way to earn some reading time with a furry canine friend on Fri., July 25 at 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Register in person or online if interested in reading with a Pet Partners Dog during this time! Open to children/teens (with a participating adult).
Open Chess on Tuesdays! The library has an area designated on the Main Floor for open chess from 5:30-7:30 p.m. every Tuesday the library is open. Bring your own board or use one of the library’s! All ages are welcome! GIANT CHESS will be available to use at the Library from July 21-31.
Hummin' & Strummin' Song Circle will be held Mondays, July 7, 14, 21, and 28 at 6:00 p.m. This is a relaxed, song-circle style music session and anyone is welcome to join or listen in. Bring your acoustic instrument, voice, or listening ears!
"Night at the Museum" Escape Room: Fri., July 18 starting at 11 a.m. in the library’s lower level. This program is family friendly and suitable for ages 8 and up. It’s perfect for solo explorers, or groups of 4-6 friends. We ask that those under age 12 have someone responsible, aged 18+ with them throughout the challenge. Participants will have an hour to help the museum’s night security guard, Mr. Jenkins follow a series of clues to trap the mischievous Djinn, who escaped from the new museum exhibit– not on his watch! Each group will receive a time slot when they register. Register in person or online by July 16.
Bluffton’s Got Talent! (R) will be held on Tue., July 22 at 6:00 p.m. Do you sing, play an instrument, dance, recite poetry or tell jokes? Showcase your talent in the library’s Richland room! The Library will provide a keyboard, microphone, sound system, and judges will be present to award prizes. All acts must be family friendly. All participants will receive an entry ticket for the Summer Program grand prize drawing of their choice. Register for a time slot and a chance to win the title! Register in person or online.
Present Your Passions (grades 6-12) (R): Prepare a 3-10 minute Power Point presentation on any appropriate topic you are interested in, and meet up at the library on Wed., July 9 at 3:00 p.m. to present! Bring a friend! Snacks will be included. Register in person or online.
Flex Your Facts Virtual Trivia (grades 6-12) (R) will be held Wed., July 16 at 1:00 p.m. Show off your knowledge in a friendly game of trivia! Bring a friend! Snacks will be provided. Register in person or online.
Cozy Day Party (grades 6-12) (R) is scheduled for Mon., July 21 at 5:00 p.m. Bring a comfy blanket, wear comfy clothes and enjoy pizza, movies, and games at the library! Bring a friend! Snacks are included. Register in person or online.
The Heist (grades 6-12) (R): Thu., July 31 at 6:00 p.m. This is the Bluffton Public Library’s final event for teens - invite your friends and come into the library to help pull off a heist! Register in person or online.
The Summer Read Finale will be held at the library on Thu., July 31 between 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. The KONA Ice Truck will be serving shaved ice (while supplies last), there will be face painting provided by Bluffton Art Co., sidewalk chalk art and other activities! The Duckie Cosplay Winner will be announced at 4:30 p.m.!
Don’t forget to check out the Display Case and look at ALL the possible Summer Read prizes you could win for your age group.
Bluffton Public Library will be closed Friday, July 4 in observance of our nation’s Independence Day. Due dates will be adjusted accordingly.
