Ronald Otis Ream worked for Cooper Tire
Ronald Otis Ream, 89, passed away peacefully on July 5, 2025, in The Villages, Florida, where he had spent over two decades enjoying the sunshine, fairways and friendships that made retirement so sweet.
Born on December 18, 1935, Ron was a proud graduate of Cory-Rawson High School and the University of Findlay. He retired from Cooper Tire after many years of dedicated service—then happily spent more years retired than he did working, a fact he took great pride in sharing.
Ron married his college sweetheart, Dorothy Gail Brant, and they shared a loving life together until her passing in 2006.
In 2002, Ron and Gail moved to The Villages, Florida, where they embraced every minute of retirement. Whether he was golfing, traveling, or early years of square dancing, Ron lived life with a spirit of fun and connection.
Ron was blessed to have found continued companionship, and love with his long-time partner in life, golf, and travel, Janet Ray.
He is survived by his sons, Greg Ream of Wayne, Ohio and Kevin Ream of The Villages, Florida; his grandchildren Heather Campbell, Seth Ream, Travis and Patt O’Brien, Adam O’Brien, and Shane and Kristen O’Brien; and ten beloved great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind his cherished bonus families: Andy and Dianne Ray, Shaun and Emily Dunn, and six more wonderful grandchildren.
Ron is also survived by his sisters Nancy (Harold) Weidman, Betty Basinger, and Imelda Ream. Ron was preceded in death by his brother, Larry Ream.
Ron had a warm heart and a love for life that touched everyone he met. His stories, his laugh, and his wisdom will be deeply missed, but his memory will echo in every family gathering, golf game and evening bowl of ice cream.
A celebration of Ron’s life will be held at a later date. In the meantime, we hope you’ll remember him with a smile, a good round of golf, or a sweet treat in his honor.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Hospice of The Villages or to a local hospice of the donor’s choice.
