Pirate golf 12th at sectionals

OTTAWA__The Bluffton High School boys golf team finished 12th in the 13-team Div. II sectional tournament at Ottawa’s Moose Landing Country Club on Thursday, September 25.
The Pirates totaled 361 strokes. They finished ahead of last-place Fostoria (436).
Ottawa-Glandorf won the sectional team title with just 291 strokes as they captured the first three individual spots. St. Marys came in second with 308, followed by Liberty-Benton (325).
Only the top three teams and top four individuals on non-qualifying clubs advanced to districts.
Van Wert missed team advancement as they finished fourth by one stroke (326). Napoleon and Upper Sandusky tied at 329 shots.
Senior Nick Lovett led Bluffton with an 18-hole round of 40-45=85. He tied for 30th place in the field of 64 players. He was six strokes off the individual district qualifying pace.
Junior Ethan Fifer finished in a tie for 37th place after posting a round of 42-45=87. Junior Coby Dailey came in 50th by carding a 46-47=93.
Senior Grady Coonfare ended up 57th as the fourth Bluffton scorer with a 48-48=96.
Pirate sophomore Gibson Meyer finished 59th with a round of 50-48=98.
O-G sophomore Alex Bellman won the sectional title by posting a sizzling round of 36-33=69. Teammate Davis Maag shot 71, while Titan Tyler Heckman carded a 73 to finish third.
The four O-G scorers all finished in the top 10 to pace the Titans to the team crown.
