Pirate boys soccer shuts out Kalida

BLUFFTON__The visiting Bluffton High School boys soccer team blanked visiting Kalida 1-0 in a non-league match to end the regular season on an up note at Steinmetz Field on Thursday, October 9.
The Pirate boys improved to 5-9-3 after the big home win.
Putnam County League power Kalida fell to 9-3-4 after the defeat.
The game was scoreless for the first half and much of the second half.
With 15 minutes remaining, Pirate Brahlen August netted the game’s lone goal to provide the winning shot.
Kalida won the junior varsity match, 2-1.
Bluffton is 2-4-3 on the road and finished 3-5 at home this season with the win.
The Pirates will play Bryan (9-4-1) at Bryan on Wednesday, October 16 in the first round of tournament play.
The winner advances to face the survivor of the Bath (7-6-4)/Elida (4-8-3) WBL battle on Tuesday, Oct. 21 at Kalida at 7 p.m.
