Pirate girls soccer eliminated by Woodmore in District final

CLYDE__The Bluffton High School girls soccer team lost a defensive nailbiter to top seed Woodmore 1-0 in a Div. V Northwest 2 district final match at Clyde on a chilly Thursday evening, October 23.

The fourth-seeded Pirate girls end their season 10-9-1 after the tight defeat.

Top seed Woodmore improved to 18-1-1 with the win.

Wildcat senior ace Kelsey Kaylor netted her 45th goal this season in the 26th minute to put Woodmore on top. It turned out to be the game’s only score. 

Neither team was able to tally a goal over the final 54 minutes.

Pirate senior keeper Kynzie Ewing made 10 saves in goal. Woodmore keeper Ariana Florio did not have to make a save.

Bluffton got off four shots, but none were on goal. Meanwhile, the Wildcats put 11 of their 17 shots on goal. 

The Sandusky Bay Conference champion Wildcats (11-0 SBC) advance to the regional semifinals on October 28 at Norwalk. 

Woodmore will face the winner between powers Coldwater (13-3-2) and Archbold (15-3-1), who play at Ottoville Friday night in the Div. V NW district 4 finals.
