MEDIA RELEASE__Bluffton Elementary School decided to hold a PB & J (peanut butter & jelly) food drive for the Bluffton Food Pantry instead of simply collecting any canned goods.

The school spoke with food pantry director Jami Lovell and she agreed that this would be a great idea. The resulting drive also included paper products such as toilet paper and paper towels.

The focus of this food drive was to help the students learn about community service and helping others in need. We surpassed our goal of receiving 500 items, and as a building, Bluffton Elementary School brought in 911 items to donate to the food pantry.

There was an added bonus for the grade level that brought in the most items, which the 5th graders won.

Some members of the Bluffton Pirate Football team along with Coach Jeff Richards delivered the items to the pantry.

Organizers concluded, "We are so thankful to the students and their parents for making this project a huge success, and to the football team for helping to deliver the items!"
