Conservation district announces pond fish sale

MEDIA RELEASE__For over forty years, the Allen Soil and Water Conservation District has helped local pond owners stock their ponds affordably, and we are thrilled to carry on this tradition.

Adding fish to your pond sparks a thriving food chain among plants, fish, and all the creatures that call it home. Healthy fish are the secret to a balanced ecosystem. They not only keep pesky insects in check but also feast on extra nutrients from aquatic plants, helping your water stay clear and vibrant.

This year brings an exciting lineup of eleven fish, with Tilapia making its debut on the order list. Not only does Tilapia naturally control filamentous algae without chemicals, but its offspring also provide a valuable food source for large-mouth bass. (Price list below.)

Fish may be ordered by completing the included form and returning it with payment to Allen SWCD by Wednesday, April 22, the deadline. The Allen SWCD office is at 1870 Slabtown Road, Lima, Ohio 45801. Orders can also be placed via PayPal at www.allenswcd.com/shop/. Please note that an additional service fee applies to online fish orders.

On Wednesday, April 29, from 3:00 to 4:30  p.m., fish will arrive at the Allen Soil and Water District Office, ready for pickup in water-filled packages. There’s no need to bring your own containers. All fish are delivered alive and must be picked up in person, so be ready to whisk them straight to their new home.

Fish must be picked up on the day of delivery, or your order will be canceled. There are no refunds for unclaimed fish.
