Ada Icon: Serving you since 2012
By Paula Pyzik Scott
Ada Icon editor
On March 15, 2012, The Ada Icon introduced itself with this article: Hello, Ada, we're the newest guy on the block. The Icon introduced free daily news supported by local advertisers, with no subscription, no login and no article limit.
In 2026, I'm looking to "put more Ada in the Icon." The Icon needs freelance writers and photographers who live in Ada or have a strong relationship with the community.
Before September 2022, I had never been a news editor. But having been a local cable TV producer, copywriter and chamber of commerce director gave me the gumption to give it a try.
Ada Icon freelance opportunities include creating feature photos for the top of the home page, writing stories about events and individuals, as well providing reports on public meetings. Most of these activities can be handled on evenings and weekends.
Please give me a call at 567-400-4266 to learn more about these opportunities.
Social media and AI aren't a good substitute for local news. The Ada Icon communicates with primary sources. Telephone, email and in-person meetings are still how we confirm information with local individuals, organizations and businesses.
Ada no longer has a weekly print newspaper, but it still needs and enjoys reliable, local news. Let me know if you'd like to be part of the Ada Icon!
