Pirate tennis sweeps opener vs. Bath

BLUFFTON__The Bluffton High School boys tennis team served up its season opener with a dominating 5-0 sweep over visiting Bath on Monday, March 30.

The Pirate netmen did not drop a set in the lopsided match to begin their season 1-0. Bluffton swept all three singles matches by a 36-0 count in games. In all, they lost only one game in the match.

Senior Grady Coonfare rolled to a 6-0, 6-0 victory at first singles.

Senior Isaiah Kohli also cruised to a win at second singles by a 6-0, 6-0 count.

Sophomore Toby Yarnell made it a clean sweep at third singles with a 6-0, 6-0 triumph.

Senior Hudson Phillips and junior Braydon McClure rolled to a 6-1, 6-0 victory at first doubles.

The sophomore duo of Micah Lemley and Ezra Nygaard won by forfeit at second doubles.

The Pirates open the season with three home matches vs. Western Buckeye League foes. Bluffton is slated to host Elida on Tuesday and entertain Shawnee on Wednesday.
