Pirate softball loss vs. Arcadia

BLUFFTON__The Bluffton High School softball team lost 12-1 to visiting non-conference foe Arcadia on Tuesday, April 21.
The Pirates tallied their lone run in the bottom of the first inning to seize a brief lead. The Redskins plated five runs in the top of the second to take the lead for good.
Arcadia added a run in the fourth, then tallied twice in the fifth. The Blanchard Valley Conference leaders plated four more runs in the sixth frame to extend the margin to 11 and enact the 10-run mercy rule.
The Redskins knocked out three triples and out-hit Bluffton, 10-7. The Pirates made three errors, while the Redskins played errorless defense.
The Pirate girls dropped to 3-8 overall with the home loss. Arcadia improved to 7-7 after the six-inning win.
Losing pitcher Haelee Rayle started and pitched three innings. She allowed 10 hits and six earned runs. She walked only one and struck out five.
Pirate Peyton Worcester hurled the final three innings, giving up just four hits and five earned runs. She walked one and struck out none. She also slapped a single.
Bluffton freshman second baseman Elana Navarro hit two singles and scored a run.
Junior shortstop Greta Myers singled home Navarro with the only Pirate run in the first frame.
First baseman Camryn Fruchey also knocked out two hits. Pirate freshman third sacker Evelyn Boyles added a single.
Catcher Karleigh Davis drew a walk.
Redskin pitcher Alanna Tucker hurled all six innings to earn the win. She gave up just one earned run and seven hits, all singles. She struck out nine and walked one.
Tucker aided her own cause by swatting an RBI triple and scoring two runs. Averie Smart tripled home two runs and scored twice.
Redskin Alexis Carter legged out a triple and drove in two runs while scoring a run. Ava Hatcher hit two singles and scored one run. Addyson McCartney singled home two runs.
Bluffton (2-0 NWC) hosts Northwest Conference foe Crestview (5-9, 3-1 NWC) on Thursday. The Knight girls lost to tough Archbold 7-3 on Tuesday.
The Pirates entertain non-league foe Ottawa Hills (1-6) on Friday. OH earned its first win of the spring over Cardinal Stritch Tuesday, 19-9.
