Sara M. Beery worked at Richland Manor
Sara M. Beery, 96, passed away May 12, 2026, at the Mennonite Memorial Home.
Sara was born August 23, 1929, in Bluffton, to Millard and Sophia (Eisenbach) Oberly, who preceded her in death. She was previously married to Howard Eldon Beery and they had four children together.
She was a 1947 graduate of Bluffton High School and attended Ebenezer Mennonite Church. She worked for the Triplett Corporation and Richland Manor. She was a member of the Bluffton Senior Center. She loved to knit, sew and bake. She especially loved spending time in her garden.
She is survived by three sons, Howard Wesley (Joyce) Beery, Larry (Michele) Beery, and John (Danielle) Beery; six grandchildren; Joshua Beery, Nate Beery, Levi (Chelsea) Beery, Sophia (Drew Svoboda) Beery, Alexandra (Brandon) Smith, and Kayleigh (Adam) Schultz; five step-grandchild, James Young, Shane (Victoria) Young, Bradley (Amber) Pickford, Brady (Jennifer) Pickford, and Brooke Fisher; ten great-grandchildren; and a nephew, Dale Oberly of Winter Haven, Fl.
In addition to her parents, Sara was preceded in death by her son, Robert Beery; daughter-in-law, Lonnie Beery; four siblings, Ken Oberly, Richard Oberly, Clara Pearson, and Robert Oberly; her previous husband, Howard Eldon Beery; and her life partner, Kenneth Chidester.
Services will be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at 7:00 pm at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services - Bluffton. William Herr to officiate the service. Burial will be in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Bluffton Senior Center.
