MEDIA RELEASE__The State of Ohio has announced $61 million in grants to help communities in 75 counties clean up contaminated properties and prepare them for new life. This includes a former gas station property in the Village of Beaverdam.

$65,000 Assessment

This project will support a Phase I environmental assessment at a former gas station property in Beaverdam that has been vacant for decades. In addition to the assessment, the project will include the removal of an abandoned underground storage tank to allow for soil sampling and evaluation of potential contamination. The assessments will help determine what cleanup activities may be necessary to return the site to productive use.

ABOUT REMEDIATION FUNDING
The Department of Development is awarding this funding as part of the Ohio Brownfield Remediation Program.

Funding awarded through the Brownfield Remediation Program is used to assess and clean up industrial, commercial, and institutional brownfield sites that are abandoned, idled, or underutilized due to a known or potential release of hazardous substances or petroleum. Following site remediation, properties can be redeveloped to revitalize neighborhoods and attract new economic development.
