Butterfly Memorial held at Marimor Park, May 29
MEDIA RELEASE__On Friday, May 29, at 11:00 a..m., the Allen County Board of Developmental Disabilities will hold the fifth annual Butterfly Memorial at the Marimor Legacy Park & Playground at 2550 Ada Road.
This event will honor those who received services through the Board, community members and loved ones who have passed. Each butterfly is inscribed with a name or memory of a loved one. A special tribute will be made for those individuals who were served by the Board. At the end, a live butterfly release will be held.
This year's event will include 19 new butterflies. After five years, 233 people will have been remembered on a butterfly in the garden.
The All Abilities Playground at Marimor Legacy Park is open to the public daily for adults and children with all abilities. There is a low sensory area for those who need a quieter environment. The park has picnic areas, enclosed fencing for safety and is connected to the Ottawa Metro Park. In March of this year, the restroom project was completed, and the playground now has a family restroom equipped with a universal changing table.
