No bullying policy emphasized; leaders and resource officer added to future pool events

FROM FACEBOOK__As a reminder, Bluffton Campus Life made the decision to cancel this week's [JULY 22] pool party. Because we value your trust, we want to share why and explain what we're doing moving forward.

Our pool parties are intended to be a safe, fun place where teens can build friendships and connect with caring leaders. Unfortunately, we have seen an ongoing trend of bullying during this event and we felt it was best to pause this week's event, so we could address these issues with students, families, and as a staff before gathering again.

Parents, we ask for your help to have conversations with you student to set the expectation; when attending an event, be it a school event, sporting event, Campus Life event, or other…treat others the way you would like to be treated. If you would like help in having this conversation, please reach out. We would love to share ideas to help guide that conversation.

Moving Forward
Our goal is for every student to feel safe, respected, and welcomed.
To help ensure that:

• Bullying will not be tolerated. Students who engage in bullying at future pool parties will be asked to leave and will not be permitted to attend the remaining pool parties this summer.
• Campus Life will continue providing at least 15 trained leaders at each event, in addition to certified lifeguards.
• A Community Resource Officer will be present at the remaining pool parties to help maintain a safe environment.

Most importantly, we ask those who know Christ to pray for our students, leaders, and events. We trust God to care for our students and continue using Campus Life to point teens to Jesus.
