Pirate girls golf opens season with Lincolnview Invite

VAN WERT – The Bluffton High School girls varsity golf team opened its season by competing in the eight-team Lincolnview Invitational at the Willow Bend Country Club in Van Wert on Tuesday, August 4.
The Pirate girls took seventh with 459 strokes.
Delphos St. John’s edged Defiance by five strokes (378-383) to win the team title. Delphos Jefferson finished third (408), followed by host Lincolnview (426), Celina (441), Miller City (451), Bluffton and Wayne Trace (470).
Ava Hesselschwardt of Defiance earned tournament medalist honors by firing an 18-hole round of 69. DSJ’s Megan Kerner shot a 78 to finish second.
Bluffton hosts Bath in a dual match Wednesday, August 5 at 4 p.m.
