Pirate golfers split tri

OTTAWA__The Bluffton High School boys golf team finished second in a Northwest Conference triangular match with Columbus Grove and local rival Allen East at Moose Landing Country Club on Monday, August 31.
CG beat Bluffton by 13 strokes, 170-183. The Pirates edged backyard rival AE by a single stroke, 183-184.
The Pirates ran their record to 4-2 overall and 4-1 in the NWC after the split. Grove improved to 10-1 overall and 45-0 in the NWC with the sweep. AE fell to 7-3 and 4-3 in NWC play with the losses.
Gage Sautter of CG was match medalist after shooting a 39. Pirate Gibson Meyer finished second overall by carding a round of 41.
AE’s Ross Clum tied Grove’s Dalton Hyman with a 43 for third place.
Bluffton finished 15th in the 18-team Bellevue Invitational at Wousickett Golf Course on Saturday in Sandusky.
Sandusky Perkins won the tourney with 317 strokes, two shots ahead of Amherst Steele. Host Bellevue came in third (321), followed by Liberty-Benton (325).
The Pirates totaled 376 strokes to finish ahead of Bucyrus, Norwalk St. Paul and Lakota.
Caleb Fifer was the top Pirate golfer. He finished 55th in the field of over 100 golfers with an 18-hole round of 89.
Jaxson Yoder of Steele and Independence ace Kaden Schuette shared tournament medalist honors after each carded a round of 71.
Bluffton hosts league foes Lincolnview (6-3, 2-0 NWC), Delphos Jefferson (1-8, 1-5 NWC) and AE Tuesday.
