Pirate girls soccer blanks Crestview

CONVOY – The visiting Bluffton High School girls soccer team decisively defeated Crestview 7-0 in a Northwest Conference match on Tuesday, September 8.

Phoebe Edwards-Leeper scored consecutive goals in the first four minutes to spark the Pirates to an early 2-0 lead, and they cruised to victory.

The Pirate girls improved to 3-3 and 2-0 in NWC play with the lopsided road victory.

The Knight girls dropped to 0-4 overall and 0-1 in the NWC after the home shutout loss.

Edwards-Leeper scored in the third minute from a Greta Myers assist, then found the back of the net a minute later from Addilyn Shoemaker.

Carli Wise made it 3-0 in the 11th minute unassisted. Audra Snyder scored the fourth goal in the 17th minute via an assist from Megan Follas.

Clara Brauen found the back of the net in the 36th minute from Wise to make it 5-0 at halftime.

Samantha Rueller scored in the 49th minute, and Nora Matthews tallied the final goal in the 51st minute of play.

Bluffton directed 11 of its 23 shots on goal.

Pirate keeper Maelee Miller did not have to make a single save as the defense posted a clean sheet.

The Crestview keeper made four stops in goal.

Bluffton plays at WBL foe Bath (2-3) Thursday evening.
