Bluffton alumni will discuss pathways to chaplaincy

MEDIA RELEASE__Bluffton University alumni working in medical chaplaincy will share their vocational journeys during a NetVUE Alumni Discernment Panel at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 22, in Yoder Recital Hall.

The panel, titled “A Day in the Life of a Chaplain,” will feature Bill Herr ’63, retired chaplain at Mennonite Memorial Home; Shannon Thiebeau ’15, staff chaplain at OhioHealth; Eliza Wertenberger ’07, fetal center chaplain at Nationwide Children’s Hospital; and Phil Wiechart ’01, senior well-being specialist at Corewell Health.

The alumni will discuss their paths from Bluffton students to members of medical and caregiving teams, offering students insight into the work of chaplains and the experiences that can shape a vocation in spiritual care.
