Pirate girls cross country 2nd at Bearcat Invite

SPENCERVILLE__The Bluffton High School cross country teams competed at the Spencerville Bearcat Invitational meet on Saturday, September 12, with the Pirate girls coming in second among a five-team field in the Black Division race.
GIRLS RESULTS
Pirate Xandra Gatchel finished second in the girls meet with a time of 21:16. Teammate Tessa Tarplee came in fourth in 22:15.
Coldwater captured the girls team crown with a mere 22 points. Bluffton tallied 75 points to nose out Bellmont (Ind.) by three points for second.
Coldwater’s Abby Alig won the girls race in 20:55.
BOYS RESULTS
The Pirate boys finished sixth out of seven teams in the Black Division.
Bluffton’s Atticus Prothro finished sixth in the boys race with a time of 18:36.
Bellmont’s Emmett Glenn won the boys race, crossing the finish line exactly one minute before Prothro in a time of 17:36.
Bellmont (Ind.) won the boys team title with just 32 points. Coldwater came in second (78), followed by Ben Logan (105).
The Pirates scored 117 points, one behind fifth-place Elida. Lima Senior was last with 143 points.
