Pirate girls soccer win vs. Delphos Jefferson

BLUFFTON__The Bluffton High School girls soccer team dominated visiting Delphos Jefferson 8-0 in a Northwest Conference mismatch on Monday, September 14 at Steinmetz Field.
Seven different Pirates found the back of the net, led by two goals from Avery Boehm.
Bluffton’s goalies made five saves and the Delphos Jefferson keeper made seven stops.
The first-place Pirate girls improved to 4-4 and 3-0 in the NWC with the lopsided victory. DJ fell to 3-5 overall and 1-2 in NWC play after the defeat.
Defending league champion Columbus Grove is tied for first in the NWC with a 3-0 league mark after beating Allen East 4-1 Monday.
Bluffton’s Phoebe Edwards-Leeper started the scoring in the 27th minute. Addilyn Shoemaker tallied to make it 2-0 a minute later. In the 31st minute, Willow Derstine netted the third goal.
Carli Wise extended the lead to 4-0 with another goal in the 35th minute. Samantha Rueller tallied 14 minutes later for a 5-0 lead.
Boehm netted goals in the 57th and 73rd minutes to provide a 6-0 margin.
Katherine Gratz netted the final goal in the 69th minute from a Kinzi Koogler feed.
Assists were recorded by Megan Follas (27th), Wise (31st), Nora Matthews (35th), Ellie Bogart (49th) and Claire Snyder (73rd).
Bluffton directed 15 of their 28 shots on goal. Delphos Jefferson got off five shots, all on goal.
Bluffton’s Maelee Miller made two saves. Siren Morris had one stop, and Alexis Mummert added a pair of saves.
The Delphos Jefferson keeper was credited with seven stops.
Bluffton hosts Liberty-Benton (7-1) in a non-league match on Monday, Sept. 21.
The looming NWC regular season finale showdown at Columbus Grove (5-1) is Monday, October 5.
