Has Bluffton made a birder out of you?
By Paula Pyzik Scott
Blufftonite Lyle Henry shares this "rather uncommon snapshot of an American Bittern within the village limits and a few blocks of downtown Bluffton on the banks of the Riley, taken a couple weeks ago."
On a recent walk around Cobb Lake, I captured the image of three cormorants, which Henry calls a "good photo of 3 troublesome birds." According to midwestoutdoors.com, the formerly endangered water bird consumes large numbers of fish and has acidic droppings. Culling of cormorants is sometimes allowed by permit in Ohio.
With its lakes and streams attracting such eye-catching birds, has Bluffton made a birder out of you?
