EDITOR'S NOTES
It's a Wonderful Life is based on the story "The Greatest Gift" by Philip Van Doren Stern. The 1946 film, starring Jimmy Stewart and Donna Reed, was initially a box-office failure but became a holiday classic in the 1980s when copyright issues led to its frequent airing on television.
