BHS alumni basketball tourney set for June 4; teams now forming
A men's alumni basketball tournament is set Saturday, June 4, at Bluffton High School, according to Todd Boblitt, BHS boys' coach.
The teams will be comprised of any graduate from Bluffton High School. It is not a requirement that you played basketball on the high school team.
Two divisions will compete: recreational and competitive.
The competitive division will be a double-elimination tournament and the recreational format will be determined at a later time, depending on team interest.
Rules:
Games consist of two 16-minute running clock halves. The clock will be stopped in the final minute of each half. In the event of a tie at the end of regulation, the first team to score in overtime will win.
There will also be a 3 point contest. Anyone is allowed to enter for a $5 fee - the 3 point contest will be held prior to the championship game (with the winner receiving a cash prize). Standard 3 point contest rules will apply.
Contestants will have 2 minutes to shoot 5 balls at 5 locations. The player with the most makes at the end will be the winner. In case of a tie the two players tied will each shoot again until one player wins.
Teams will be finalized by Sunday, May 29.
An entry form is attached at the bottom of this story.
