Evan Skilliter among Bluffton University's May Day dancers
Sixteen first-year students at Bluffton University have been chosen to perform a century-old tradition-the Maypole dance-during Bluffton's annual May Day ceremony on Saturday, May 7.
Dancing during the 11 a.m. ceremony on the Centennial Hall lawn will be Tamara Al-Sammarraie of Baghdad, Iraq; Nick Baumgartner of Berne, Ind.; Crista Buller of Henderson, Neb.; Sarah Dailey of Zanesville, Ohio; Spenser Genson of Toledo, Ohio; Jared Horstman of Cloverdale, Ohio; Maria Langenkamp of Coldwater, Ohio; Aaron Luke of Delphos, Ohio; Neil Macke of Ottawa, Ohio; Eliot Nofziger and Jessica Ramirez, both of Archbold, Ohio; Ben Roeschley of Flanagan, Ill.; Kristen Satchwell of Normal, Ill.; Evan Skilliter of Bluffton, Ohio; Lydia Speicher of Marysville, Ohio; and Holly Walter of Carey, Ohio.
May Day is one of the university's oldest traditions. The day's events include the crowning of the king and queen and recognition of graduating seniors, as well as the Maypole dance.
