Barberettes to perform 'Bluffton, Ohio'
Bluffton's Barberettes, a group of 25 women who give concerts in local senior living communities, will be performing twice during Bluffton's sesquicentennial celebrations.
They will appear at the Old Settlers Potluck at the Ebenezer Church, June 26th at 1:30 p.m. and also at the Bluffton Presbyterian Church June 29th at 8:00 p.m.
The Barberettes will present "Popular Songs from the Last 15 Decades". Included in the program is a song written especially for them and for the sesquicentennial celebration called "Bluffton Ohio".
The song includes a short history of Bluffton with lyrics and music by Jayne McGarrity. The song style is reminiscent of an Irish ditty: "Though I roam many mile-o, it's to Bluffton, Ohio I return where my heart knows its rest. And 'tho gone for a while-o, it's to Bluffton Ohio where the farmland and folks are the best."
