Dec. 1 to 15, 2009
1 - Police responded to the intersection of Church and Jackson Streets to assist the EMS.
4 -Police took a complaint from a N. Main St. business in regards to several individuals who had passed bad checks at the business.
5 - Police took a complaint of telephone harassment from a Snider Road resident.
7 - Officers responded to I-75 in regards to several traffic crashes near the County Line Road overpass.
8 - Police took a complaint of possible animal cruelty from a Cherry St. resident.
8 - Police took a report of a hit-skip traffic crash from a Lugabill Road resident who reported that sometime over the previous night an unknown person had gone off the roadway and damaged their mailbox.
8 - Police took a report from a Chalet Place resident who stated that sometime during the last month someone had broken into his storage unit on County Line Road and several items were stolen.
8 - Police responded to the 500 block of S. Main St. in regards to a traffic crash. Anthony Baxter, 21, Bluffton, was issued a citation for rules for starting and backing. The case is pending in Bluffton Mayor's Court.
9 - Officers responded to a non-injury traffic crash at the intersection of Grove St. and Bentley Road. Marlene Vermillion, 45, Dunkirk, was issued a citation for failure to yield the right of way. The case is pending in Bluffton Mayor's Court.
9 - Officers responded to Campus Drive in regards to a non-injury traffic crash. While investigating the crash officers arrested the driver of the vehicle, Eric Penz, 20, Troy, Mich., for OVI (underage), Failure to maintain reasonable control, left of center, and obstructing official business. A passenger in the vehicle, Brett Howard, 21, was also charged with obstructing official business. All of the cases are pending in Lima Municipal Court.
11 - Officers took a criminal damaging complaint from a Spring St. resident. The complainant stated that unknown persons had stolen pumpkins from their porch and some Christmas decorations were damaged.
13 - Police arrested Marubini Sikhipa, 23, Cincinnati for OVI following a traffic stop and trespassing complaint from Bluffton University staff. This case is pending in Lima Municipal Court.
14 - Officers took a complaint from a university student who stated that she was being harassed by another student at the university.
15 - Officers responded to a SR 103 business and took a theft report. The manager of the business stated unknown person(s) had stolen money from a change machine at the business.
