Line of strong, severe thunderstorms tonight in NW Ohio
Western Ohio - Line of Strong-Severe T-Storms (55-65 mph Wind -8 pm-11pm today (Wednesday)
AEP issues the following weather alert: A line of strong-severe thunderstorms are expected this evening and tonight for northwestern Ohio.
Details: A warm and unstable air mass will be drawn northward today ahead of an advancing cold front. Scattered strong to severe thunderstorms are likely to develop this afternoon across Michigan and western Indiana.
The cold front along with robust upper level energy will organize these storms into a line of strong to severe storms as they enter eastern I&M Power this evening.
The line of strong to severe storms will continue eastward into Ohio and reach the Columbus metropolitan area by around midnight. Storms will weaken as they enter southern Ohio where instability and upper level energy will be weaker...eventually weakening to below threat levels early Thursday morning as they cross the Ohio River.
Wind gusts of 55-65 mph are expected with the strongest storms. Isolated tornados are possible across I&M Power and northwest Ohio.
The cold front will continue to push eastward into APCo and Kentucky Power on Thursday. Instability looks marginal at best for tomorrow.
However...strong thunderstorms along the cold front can't be completely
ruled out at this time.
A weather alert will be issued tomorrow if needed...as details become more clear.
