Bluffton alum to discuss key global issues of future
Jonathan Moyer, recipient of Bluffton University's 2011 Outstanding Young Alumni Award, will discuss "What Will Keep Future Presidents up at Night" at 4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30, in Stutzman Lecture Hall in Bluffton's Centennial Hall. The colloquium is free and open to the public.
Moyer, a 2002 Bluffton graduate and current Ph.D. student at the University of Denver, will explore key global transitions through 2030 from an integrated perspective. Topics will include China's growing economic strength, the problems of an aging population in industrialized countries and the impact of climate change.
His presentation, which he gave this summer at a U.S. National Intelligence Council seminar, will also introduce the International Futures model, a widely used tool for exploring important global questions. He will demonstrate how individuals can access and begin to use the model themselves.
