Ruth L. Ayers 1919-2011
Ruth L. Ayers, 92, died, Sept. 25, 2011 at Mennonite Memorial Home in Bluffton.
She was born May 16, 1919 on the family farm near Pandora, to Ezra and Etta Davidson Amstutz. She married Wilbur Ayers in 1945 and he died in 1999.
She is survived by their children, Keith (Rebecca) Ayers of Houston, Texas, Marilyn (Tom) Beerman of Worthington, Ohio and John (Cheryl) Ayers of E. Greenwich, R.I.
There are five grandchildren, Kevin Ayers, League City, Texas, Andrew Beerman, Park City, Utah, Jennifer Bonnice, Oregon, Ohio, Bradley Ayers, Warwick, R.I., Brian Ayers, Ligonier, Pa., and 10 great-grandchildren She is also survived by her sister Marcile Henkener of Dublin, Ohio, her sister-in-law Mary Amstutz of Bluffton and 10 nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by brothers Ray and Fred Amstutz and granddaughter Deborah Blount.
Mrs. Ayers taught Home Economics at Delphos Jefferson High School for over 20 years. Ruth and Wilbur raised their family in Delphos and in 1998 moved to Maple Crest Senior Living Communities in Bluffton where Ruth remained until recently.
There will be calling hours at Chiles-Laman Funeral and Cremation Services, Bluffton on Friday Sept. 30 from 6-8 p.m. Graveside services will be at Walnut Grove Cemetery in Delphos on Saturday Oct. 1 at 9:30 a.m. Following burial, a memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. at the First Mennonite Church in Bluffton.
