This was the 1960 old car show downtown
Looking at this photo reveals many things about Main Street Bluffton in 1960, the year the photo was taken.
This shows the Bluffton antique car show from that summer. Taken from the clock tower of the town hall there are many things to examine closely:
• Rexall Drug sign on right side of photo
• For that matter, all the buildings on the far right side that no long exist
• Signs reading "Eat" and "Hotel" on the left side
• That's a "Western Auto" sign south of the Black Lab (Basinger Furniture store in 1960)
• Don't examine the sidewalks very closely. They were in need of repair. This photo was taken prior to the first downtown sidewalk project
• What's missing? All the awnings on Main Street businesses.
• Check out the "One Way" painted arrow in the alley on the bottom left side. It is still there today.
Other Icon viewer observations are welcome.
