Turn of an earlier century photo of Columbus Grove
You've stopped at this corner at Columbus Grove countless times. But, did you know that the building here was once the Opera House Block? We know that thanks to the message on the top of the post card.
Taken in 1907 or before, here's what what we see:
• Independent Order of Odd Fellows lodge (IOOF) on the top floor at the fire escape.
• Eight men standing in front of the buidling on the corner
• A brick Main Street
• (can't make out the name) Book Store
• Hitching posts for horses along the side of the street
• Notice the very tall electric pole with three branches holding wire
Other observations from viewers are welcome.
