Fred Steiner presents Historic Bluffton Visitors, Saloons, & Other Lore on Wed., May 24 @ 6:00 p.m. at the Bluffton Public Library. Please register in advance. Bluffton was a regular stop for interesting groups of itinerant visitors making the rounds in the Midwest during the 50-year-span from 1880 to 1930. These people included drifters, peddlers, people from the Romani culture, each selling goods, providing entertainment, and/or looking for day work or handouts. Some arrived in Bluffton by freight trains, while others carried their possessions in wagons. One group even came with a trained bear! Also during this period, saloons took up 13 storefronts, bringing in oil well workers and a slew of other interesting characters and interesting issues to Bluffton. Join us for an evening of Bluffton lore!
