PHOTO STORY Sixth graders explore the sciences at Bluffton University

Sixth graders from Bluffton Middle School enjoyed a wide-ranging science studies experience at Bluffton University on January 11.

Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science and Physics departments provided hand-on experiences in five different classrooms across the campus. The sessions included
- Examining cell structures under microscopes
- Discovering the different colors created by exposing minerals to flames
- Estimating and testing the energy created by a compressed spring,
- Examining plant specimens and the different ways they grow
- Investigating parts of the human body using a virual cadaver
Students worked with Assistant Professor of Environmental Science, Jacob Buchanan, Professor of Chemistry Charles Daws, Assistant Professor of Biology, Sarah Lehman, Professor of Biology Angela Montel andAssociate Professor of Physics, Luke Myers, as well as with their student assistants.
