Bluffton’s Donaldson wins state 800

Stackhouse 2nd in 200, Wright 3rd in 400

COLUMBUS – Bluffton senior Marek Donaldson won the 800-meter run in the Div. II OHSAA Track and Field State Tournament on Saturday, June 7, at Ohio State University in the Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium.
Donaldson crossed the finish line first in the 16-runner race with a time of 1:52.41, nosing out second-place London junior Cameron Carn by .06.
Pirate senior sprinter Griffin Stackhouse placed second in the 200-meter dash final, .74 behind first-place Brookville senior Coy Hyre (20.99).
Hyre also sprinted to first in the 100-meter dash finals (10.38), while Stackhouse finished sixth in the eight-man field with a time of 10.95.
Junior Kain Wright took third in the 400-meter run finals Saturday with a time of 48.3.
Bluffton sophomore Nora Matthews finished a solid sixth out of 18 runners in the 800-meter final race Saturday.
Junior Alayna Mueller ended up ninth out of 16 in the pole vault final Saturday with a best effort of 11-0.
Senior Noah Bricker finished 17th in the high jump finals Saturday with a best leap of 6-0.
On Friday, sophomore Tayte Giesige finished 15th in the long jump finals.
Two Pirate girls competed in their event prelims Friday, but did not advance to the finals Saturday.
Freshman Maelee Miller came in 13th in the 400-meter run, and finished 17th in the 100-meter hurdle race.
Junior Aubrey Burkholder ended up 14th in the 300-meter hurdle preliminary heats.
