Bluffton U. to present fall play After the Blast
OCT 13 MEDIA RELEASE__Bluffton University Theatre has announced the cast and production team for its fall play, After the Blast by Zoe Kazan.
After an environmental disaster forces survivors deep underground, nature must be simulated, and fertility is tightly regulated. Anna and Oliver want a baby, but Anna hasn't passed the Mental Health Exam. Will training their new robot helper satisfy Anna's craving for meaning and purpose?
“After the Blast” blends dystopian intrigue with deep emotional insight, offering a poignant and timely reflection on resilience, connection and the fragile hope for renewal.
Cast
Anna – Jordyn Garmatter, senior English major, Bluffton, Ohio
Oliver – Coen North, senior Spanish and communication and media major, Denver, Colo.
Arthur – Benten Adkins, first-year history and AYA education major, McComb, Ohio
Lowes – Dreya Baker, first-year biology major, Cincinnati, Ohio
Carrie / Margarita – Audrey Hull ’23
Sam / Patrick – Adam Shanaman ’22
The production is directed by Dr. Melissa Friesen, professor of theatre and communication. Merv Schrock is the technical director, and Brit Mustard is the costume designer. Jenna Loescher, junior social work major, Cridersville, Ohio, is stage manager.
Performances will be held at 7:30 p.m. on November 13-15, and at 2:30 p.m. on November 16 in Ramseyer Auditorium, College Hall. All seats are reserved; tickets will be available at www.bluffton.edu/tickets. Ticket prices will be $8 for adults, $6 for senior citizens, Bluffton University faculty and staff, and non-Bluffton University students. Bluffton University students will be admitted free.
