Al Ingalls dressed up for a mid-century Bluffton rodeo

CORRECTED The article originally misidentified Jim Diller’s dad; his first name is Paul.

In 2016, Icon founder Fred Steiner wrote, Every town should have an Al Ingalls. Fred would go on to detail the remarkable features of the Ingalls Restaurant at 142 N. Main. The restaurant became Smith's in 1990 and is currently home to Campito Lindo.

The Icon has just received this mid-20th century photo of Ingalls dressed for the Bluffton Rodeo from Jim Diller, who has a treasure trove of color slides taken by his dad Paul Diller. For a great account of Bluffton Rodeo days, see Bill Herr's column When July in Bluffton was rodeo time.
