MEDIA RELEASE__The following opportunities and services for December 2025 have been shared by the Bluffton Public Library, 145 S. Main.

Bluffton Community Assistance Program Supply Drive  The Library is continuing to help BCAP stock up its shelves. The supplies needed are: peanut butter, cereal, canned meat, canned tuna, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and toothpaste. On your next visit to the Library, bring a few items to support your community. We are collecting supplies through December. We will accept all donations of non-perishable, non-expired food in plastic jars, cans, and sealed packets. 

Holiday music with Riley Creek Strummers: Tue., Dec. 9 at 1 p.m. on the main floor of the Bluffton Public Library. Come to enjoy the music, as well as light refreshments provided by the Friends of the Bluffton Public Library. 

Family Storytime: Gingerbread (R) will be held Tue., Dec. 2 at 6:00 p.m. Families with children of all ages are welcome to join us for an evening of stories, songs, and crafts to celebrate the holiday season. Register in person or online. 

SANTA’S FIRE TRUCK The Bluffton Fire Department is helping Santa get his sleigh ready for his annual trip around the world. While he is in town, Santa and the Bluffton Fire Department are coming to visit the library! Join us on Tue., Dec. 9 at 6:00 p.m. for a FREE night filled with reading, stories, and crafts. Register online, at the library front desk, or by calling 419-358-5016 by December 8. Space is limited. 

Teens and Tweens: Cookies and Cocoa will be held Mon., Dec. 15 at 3:30 p.m. Join us for cookies and cocoa to celebrate the upcoming holiday season. 

Noon Book Group (R) meets Wed., Dec. 3 and the group will discuss Shelterwood by Lisa Wingate. The title for the Wed., Jan. 7 discussion is The Women by Kristin Hannah. Stop by the library front desk to register and pick up the book during the month prior to each discussion, and to receive email updates! 

“Let it Snow!” Snowman Paint Class with Bluffton Art Company (R)($) will be held Tue., Dec. 9 at 6:00 p.m. with Hannah Warwick of Bluffton Art Co. Come prepared to create your own snowman painting. Cost is $15 per person and will be taken at the door (cash only, please). Register in person or online. Open to adults, and teens and children with an accompanying adult. 

Watercolor Workshop: Christmas Gnome (R)($) is moving back to evenings and will be held Thurs., Dec. 11 from 5:30-7:15 p.m. Local artist Jeanne Crumrine will teach on the lower level of the library. Walk away with your own watercolor art, complete with mat. There is a $10 supply fee at the door (cash only please). Register in person or online. Open to adults, and teens and children with an accompanying adult. 

Mobile Health Clinic: The next Mobile Health Clinic will be held on Thu., Dec. 11 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. All services are provided by individuals with the Ohio Northern University Healthwise program. This clinic includes free screenings for blood pressure, blood sugar, and cholesterol (please fast for 12 hours to participate in cholesterol or blood sugar screening), bone density, and flu vaccines. Participants may speak with ONU Healthwise students and staff about their results or concerns, and even receive referrals to area doctors. *Note: Mobile Health Clinic Weather Policy: If the Bluffton or Ada school district has a weather delay or cancellation, Mobile Health Clinic will be cancelled that day. 

Signing with Joy - ASL Family Storytime. Join Joy from Corson Communications for Family Storytime in ASL! Learn and experience American Sign Language through stories, games and interactive play - All are welcome and no registration is required. Mark your calendars for Mon., Dec. 15 at 6:00 p.m. in the children’s program room. 

Movie in the Stacks: Meet us on the main floor on December 30 at 1:00 p.m. for a family-friendly movie showing (rated G/PG). All are welcome and no registration is required! Popcorn is provided. 

Playgroup is held most Fridays at 10 a.m. Make a playdate and the library will provide the space and toys! 

Hummin' & Strummin' Song Circle will be held at a new time of 5:00 p.m. November through February. Can’t make it at 5:00? Feel free to come anytime that works for your schedule and pull up a chair! This is a relaxed, song-circle style music session and anyone is welcome to join or listen in. Bring your acoustic instrument, voice, or listening ears! 

Open Chess on Tuesdays! The library has an area designated on the Main Floor for open chess from 5:30-7:30 p.m. every Tuesday the library is open. Bring your own board or use one of the library’s! All ages are welcome! 

Community Display Case: Showcase your collection or exhibit your cause. Show us what you collect, create, or are passionate about, or help provide awareness or resources for others in the community. December’s Display reflects Vintage Holidays from seasons past. 

Holiday Hours

*Bluffton Public Library will be closed Wed. and Thurs., Dec. 24-25 in observance of the holiday. Due dates will be adjusted accordingly and normal hours will resume Fri., Dec. 26 at 9:30 a.m. 

**Bluffton Public Library will close at 5:30 p.m. on Wed., Dec. 31 and remain closed Thurs., Jan. 1, 2026. Regular hours resume on Fri., Jan. 2 at 9:30 a.m. Due dates will be adjusted accordingly.

The American Heart Association’s program “Libraries with Heart” offers patrons who visit the Bluffton Public Library a chance to check their blood pressure at the library or borrow kits to monitor their blood pressure at home, just like they can check out a book.
