What's happening at the Bluffton Senior Center, February 2026

The Bluffton Senior Center, 132 N. Main St., provides a monthly Happenings newsletter for its members. Here's a sampling of announcements for February 2026.

MONTHLY DINNER MEETING
Monday, February 9 at 12:00 noon

We will have a potluck and Mark and Debbie Brenneman will be providing soup. Please bring a side to go with the soup or dessert. MC: Beth Lamb

Adam Musyt, Meteorologist at WLIO will be our speaker. Adam will discuss how meteorologists make weather predications and answer questions.

WINTER WEATHER CLOSINGS
Winter is here. If the Bluffton Schools cancel for winter weather (ice or snow) we will cancel all activities but the Center will still be open. If Allen County reaches Level 3, the Senior Center will close. If the weather gets bad during the day or you are unsure of the conditions, please call and check with us before heading out. We would rather you call than fall. 

DUES ARE DUE
Everyone’s dues are now due for 2026. Dues are still just $20 a year per person.

TAI JI QUAN/ TAI CHI
Our next Tai Chi class is Tai Ji Quan: Moving for Better Balance. The class will run from February 10 through July 23 from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. The class is an evidence-based group program that focuses on improving functional ability, such as balance and physical function, to reduce fall-related risks and frequency. Pre-registration is required. 

I AM DEAD – NOW WHAT
On Wednesday, February 18, at 10:30 a.m. Demi Burden from Chiles-Laman Funeral Homes will be speaking on the importance of preplanning your final arrangements. This will help your family honor your wishes and may actually save money in the long run. Demi will have a presentation and a question-and-answer time. 

WINTER FARMER’S MARKET
The Bluffton Farmer’s Market is having their Winter Farmer’s Market here again this year. It will be the third Saturday of the month, December thru March from 8:30 a.m. to 12 noon. The next Market will be Saturday, February 21 at the Senior Center.

AMERICA 250
Bluffton, Ohio, is celebrating America’s Birthday. The Bluffton Senior Center’s front window is the place to get information about upcoming celebrations. On April 18, the Bluffton Senior Center will have a Colonial Games and Past Times from 11 to 1. We will be introducing people to games played 250 years ago. If you would like to help with the event, please contact Sherry. 

EDUCATION AND EXERCISE
Kathy Withrow from Elara Health will continue an Education and Exercise Class on Friday, February 13 at 11:30 a.m. The Focus of this class is strengthening and stretching to music. It can be done from a chair or standing. The goal is to maintain strength while socializing and having fun. It is free to attend. Registration requested.

TOENAIL CLINIC
Putnam County Homecare and Hospice is our new Toenail Clinic provider. They will have a nurse here on the third Tuesday of every month. Appointments are needed and can be made by calling the office at 419-358-8971 or stop by the office. The next Toenail Clinic is Tuesday, February 17 from 9:30 to 3:45. Cost is $10.00 due at the time of your appointment. 

COMMUNITY MEALS
St. John’s Church of Christ will be serving the Community Meal on February 5 and English Lutheran will be serving on February 19. Community Meals start at 6 p.m. at the Senior Center and are free and open to the public. A goodwill offering will be taken to help the local food pantry.

ACTIVITIES
This winter has been brutal with the up and down temperatures. But it is always cozy and warm in the Senior Center. Let us know if there is something else that you would like to see.
