Grove St. bridge replacement to include bike and pedestrian lane
By Paula Pyzik Scott
Village council received the following construction updates on March 9, including details on planned road closures for Grove St. bridge replacement near Kibler; sidewalk, curb and gutter replacement on Elm St. from Spring to Lawn; and SR 103 roundabout construction at Navajo Rd.
SPRING 2026 W. ELM RECONSTRUCTION
Sidewalks, curb and gutter along W. Elm St from Spring St. to Lawn Ave are being reconstructed to match the layout from Spring St. to Bentley Rd.
The design will include a new tree lawn area, sidewalks, curbs, ADA-compliant curb ramps and drive entrances.
This work is expected to close Elm St. during the spring of 2026. A future pre-construction meeting will provide an estimate for the road closure.
SUMMER-FALL 2026 GROVE ST. BRIDGE REPLACEMENT
Due to deterioration, the Grove St. bridge west of Kibler St. will be replaced in 2026.
The replacement creates the opportunity to build improved bike and pedestrian access to Motter Park and Maple Grove Cemetery. Construction dates have not been set for this project.
S.R. 103 ROUNDABOUT
Closure of SR 103 for the construction of a roundabout at Navajo Rd. began on March 1. Assistant Village Administrator Bryan Lloyd reported that a few drivers attempted to go around roadblocks but turned around before the 1-foot drop-off.
2027 N. MAIN ST. RECONSTRUCTION
A planned construction project for 2027 is the reconstruction of N. Main St from Snider Rd. to Riley St. The Allen County Engineer is rebuilding the bridges over the Riley Creek and Marsh Run on N. Main St.
