Sharon MacKenzie worked at Ohio Northern University
Sharon Sue Oman Stuckey MacKenzie, 81, of Bluffton, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at Bridge Hospice Care Center. She was born October 21, 1944, in Mt. Blanchard, Ohio to Domer D. and Dortha (Price) Oman. After Domer was killed in World War II, she was raised by her mother and stepfather, Ralph Cole. She married her high school sweetheart, Donald D. Stuckey, on August 14, 1965, and he preceded her in death on January 2, 1992. She then married Lawrence B. "Larry" MacKenzie on November 30, 2002, and he preceded her in death on October 23, 2006.
She is survived by one son, Nick (Annette) Stuckey, of Rawson; and four grandchildren, Ryan, Logan (Amanda), Brandon, and Allison. Other survivors include sisters-in-law Carol Oman, LuAnn Stuckey, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Tyler Ted Oman, a stepbrother Lynn (Carol) Cole, nephew Todd Oman, and her parents and stepfather.
Sharon graduated from Mt. Blanchard High School in 1962 as Class Historian and from Bowling Green State University with a degree in Home Economics in 1965. After college, she married Donald and was a stay-at-home mom. She assisted with the farming operations and was an avid seamstress, crafting clothes for family and friends. Following Donald's passing, she accepted a full-time position at Ohio Northern University in the Office of Planned Giving, where she worked for 19 years before retiring in 2011. She was very active in the community, volunteering as a Flag City Honor Flight guardian for several years and at the Bluffton Hospital. Additionally, she was an avid member of both the Mt. Blanchard United Methodist Church and Ada Kiwanis Club. When not active in the community, she loved spending time with her grandchildren and enjoyed attending all their various sporting and music events.
Visitation for friends and family will be held from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at the CRATES FUNERAL HOME, 620 North Main Street, Arlington. Sharon's funeral will take place at Mt. Blanchard United Methodist Church, 204 South Main Street, Mt. Blanchard at 11:00 a.m. with visitation one hour prior to the service. Pastor Brett Kelly will officiate, and interment will follow at Riverview Cemetery, Mt. Blanchard. Memorial contributions may be made in Sharon's honor to Mt. Blanchard United Methodist Church and to Bridge Hospice. Online condolences are welcome at www.coldrencrates.com.
