D. Jane Grismore was a nurse
D. Jane Grismore, 93, passed away April 15, 2026 at the Mennonite Memorial Home in Bluffton. Jane was born August 8, 1932 in rural Lima to the late Emmer and Florence (Cool) Bridges. On June 16, 1951, she married Park Cherry and he passed away on September 10, 1965. She later married Herbert Grismore on December 5, 1971 and he preceded her in death on April 6, 2024.
Jane graduated from Beaverdam High School and became a licensed practical nurse in 1968. She was a nurse at Bluffton Hospital until she was 79 years old and had worked at the Hilty Memorial Home and Mennonite Memorial Home. Jane was a member of Pandora Missionary Church and generously volunteered with the AWANA program. She was happy when she was sewing, crafting and loved working in her flowers. Her grandchildren were her biggest joy, and she was happy to know all their birth dates and anniversaries.
Survivors include four children, David (Terri) Grismore of Pandora, Tom (Chris) Cherry of Columbus Grove, Charlotte (Bill) Adams of Huntertown, Indiana and Christine (Mark) Capper of Fort Wayne, Indiana; a son-in-law, Kent (Rachel) Cherry of Pandora, twenty-one grandchildren, forty-one great-grandchildren and a brother-in-law, Harold Weaver of Lima.
Jane was also preceded in death by two children, Barbara Cherry and Clare Grismore and six siblings, Willis Bridges, Marie Bishop, Ida Miller, Leah Bridges, Ruth Wildermuth and Mary Ellen Weaver.
Jane's service will begin at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 25, 2026, at Pandora Missionary Church with Pastor Matthew Steiner officiating. Burial will be in Lewis Grove Cemetery following the service. Visitation will be on Friday, April 24, 2026, from 4:00 -7:00 p.m. at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, Bluffton and one hour prior to the service at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Pandora Missionary Church or Samaritan's Purse.
