Sharon K. Rettig worked for Stratton Greenhouses
Sharon K. Rettig, 83, passed away April 29, 2026, at Blanchard Valley Hospital.
Sharon was born on October 25, 1942, in Bluffton, to Russell and Lamoile "Molly" (Salsbury) Amstutz who preceded her in death. On August 4, 1961, she married Norman Rettig, who preceded her in death on July 5, 2006.
She was a graduate of Cory Rawson High School and a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Jenera. Sharon previously worked for Stratton Greenhouses. She enjoyed baking many special occasion cakes over the years and helping Norman on the farm. She adored her dog Koko and loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Phyllis Rettig of Bluffton; two grandchildren, April (Aaron) Smith of Jenera and John (Lindsay) Rettig of Rawson; five great-grandchildren, Emma, Madelyn, and Garrett Smith and Jesse and Lainey Rettig; and a brother-in-law, Gerald Rettig of Jenera.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her only son, Rick Rettig.
Services will be held on Monday, May 4, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services. Burial will be in Thompson Cemetery following the service. Visitation will be Sunday, May 3, 2026, 2:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. and Monday, May 4, 2026, 9:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
