Chad R. Koontz worked at FedEx Freight
Chad R. Koontz, 53, passed away June 27, 2026, at his residence. Chad was born on March 1, 1973, in Bluffton, Ohio, to Dan Koontz and Judy Westrick. On March 8, 1998, he married Stefani Eckenwiler Koontz, who survives.
Chad was a 1992 graduate of Bluffton High School and received his bachelor's degree in criminal justice from the University of Findlay. He was an operations manager at FedEx Freight in Lima. Chad enjoyed cooking, playing video games, watching movies, and being outdoors. He also had a love for animals, especially his dogs, Maggie and Milo and loved sports, especially football and was a Los Angeles Rams and Ohio State Buckeyes fan.
Survivors include his wife, Stefani Koontz of Bluffton; four children, Chase Koontz, Sidnie (Adam Liles) Koontz, Aiden Koontz, and Cora Koontz, all of Bluffton; his father, Dan (Nina) Koontz of Bluffton; his mother, Judy Koontz of Bluffton; and a sister, Nicki (Darin) Moser of Bluffton.
Chad was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Rolland and Mildred Koontz and his maternal grandparents, Julius and Maxine Westrick.
Chad's service will begin at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 2, 2026, at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services - Bluffton with William Herr officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Beaverdam, following the service. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services - Bluffton and one hour prior to the service.
