Larry "Eddie" E. Shepler Jr. was a farmer

Larry "Eddie" E. Shepler Jr., 66, passed away July 18, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his family.

Eddie was born on August 11, 1959, in Bluffton to Larry Shepler Sr. and Dorothy (Pore) Leiber who survive. On September 27, 1980, he married Beverly (Oberly) Shepler, who survives.

He was a 1978 graduate of Bluffton High School and a member of Emmanuel United Church of Christ. He was a farmer and worked previously for Superior Forge and Steel. He enjoyed playing cards, camping, antiquing, watching NASCAR, motorcycles, and cheering on The Ohio State Buckeyes. Above all, he adored his family and friends.

He is survived by his parents, Larry (Peggy) Shepler Sr. of Columbus Grove and Dorothy (Roger) Leiber of Bluffton; his wife, Beverly Shepler of Bluffton; two children, Nicholas (Onalee) Shepler of Bluffton and Melissa (Shanon) Hauenstein of Lafayette; four grandchildren, Levi and Ivy Shepler and Makenna and Brayden Hauenstein; and five siblings, Frank Mull of Harrod, Julie (Ron) Osburn of Piketon, Bob (Laura) Leiber of Alger, Jim (Beckie) Shepler of Bluffton, and Scott (Angie) Leiber of Bluffton.

Eddie was preceded in death by a brother, David Shepler; his stepmother, Kay Shepler; and his grandparents, Charley and Augusta "Mim" Shepler, Rudolph and Ruth Pore, and Richard and Naomi Leiber.

Services will be held at 12:00 pm on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at Emmanuel United Church of Christ, with Bill Herr officiating. A private burial will be in Woodland Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will take place on Saturday, July 25, 2026, from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to Emmanuel United Church of Christ, St. Jude's Children's Hospital, or to the charity of the donor's choice.
