School zone pickup and drop off tops safety poll responses

Bluffton residents have a lot ot say about traffic safety priorities. The Icon's July 2026 poll asked readers to select up to three areas of interest or to write in their own topic.
The top three opportunities for improvement were 1) School pick-up and drop-off zones, 2) Awareness of stop signs at County Line and Jefferson St. and 3) Slow down e-scooters and e-bikes.
A total of 120 votes were cast, with a few write-in responses covering more than one topic. A total of 54 write-in votes were cast. An Icon tally including write-in responses shows:
- 68 Improve school pick-up and drop-off zone
- 46 Improve awareness of stop sign at County Line and Jefferson St.
- 32 Slow down e-scooters and e-bikes
- 24 Multiple areas speed concerns
- 21 Lower speed limit on SR 103 between I-75 and County Line Rd.
- 20 Improve College and Main intersection / return of traffic signal
- 13 Add more digital speed feedback signs
- 18 Topics with 5 or fewer votes
The automated poll results are below:
- 41% Improve school pick-up and drop-off zone
- 30% Improve awareness of stop sign at County Line and Jefferson St.
- 25% Slow down e-scooters and e-bikes
- 18% Lower speed limit on SR 103 between I-75 and County Line Rd.
- 13% Slow traffic on Main St.
- 11% Add more digital speed feedback signs
