This is a preview of bands and musicians Tommy Jenkins, Cat Dailey, and the Szabo Trio, which are scheduled to play during Bluffton's Play Music on the Porch Day (a.k.a. PorchFest) on August 29. The event is part of a worldwide movement featuring live music performances in neighborhood settings.
This is the third year for the event locally, with 30 bands signed up to perform in and around Bluffton. A performance map and schedule is attached above (CLICK to enlarge).
Tommy Jenkins:
Tommy Jenkins is a singer/song writer from Upper Sandusky who shares songs that celebrate life’s little moments, the power of positivity, and the thrill of what’s to come. He loves to play melodies on his acoustic guitar to promote positivity and lift his listeners’ spirits. According to his social media, Tommy has been playing music for over 25 years. You may have seen him perform at several venues in Findlay, including Coffee Amici and The Lavender Hour. He has even played for yoga classes at Little Zen on the Farm, which includes yoga with goats.
Cat Dailey:
Findlay native Cat Dailey has played all over northwest Ohio. She is a singer, songwriter and musician who loves to play classics in blues, country rock, folk, jazz, and some of her own originals using a guitar and piano. Cat has been busy writing songs for over 10 years and holds a minor in music from Ohio State University.
In addition to playing at PorchFest this year, she can be found at several places in our region, including Riverside Park in Findlay, the BG Farmers’ Market, Brew Nation in Celina, and Mancy’s at the Hancock Hotel in Findlay.
Szabo Trio:
The Jerry Szabo Trio has been part of Porchfest from the very beginning. This well-known Bluffton-based trio is self-labeled as a jazz group. Players are drummer Jerry Szabo, trumpet player David Syckes and pianist Dean Alsteatter. Each plays much more than jazz and performs in multiple other bands around the area. You can also catch them performing on Thursday evenings at the Presbyterian Church gazebo located in downtown Bluffton.
